Bengaluru: In the realm of commercial cinema, narratives centered around authors are a rarity. Even scarcer are tales that delve into one of the most forbidden realms of authorship – plagiarism.
At first glance, "Kaddha Chitra" (The Stolen Canvas) appears to be a story about an author accused of plagiarism. However, beneath the surface, the film unfolds as a riveting revenge drama, with the director skillfully concealing the real narrative until the climactic revelation, marking his standout accomplishment.
Vijay (Vijay Raghavendra) receives encouragement from Aditi (Namratha Surendranath) to publish his literary creations, catapulting him into a successful career as an author.
His meteoric rise encounters an abrupt hurdle when he is accused of plagiarism. Rather than shouldering the blame, Vijay points fingers at everyone but himself for this unexpected twist of fate.
The publisher extends a second chance to Vijay, who, in his pursuit of redemption, pens another book, only to find himself entangled in another accusation of plagiarism.
The storyline unfurls on multiple fronts, weaving together elements of psychological drama, action thriller, and suspense. Vijay Raghavendra's performance emerges as one of the film's standout features.
His portrayal, alongside Namratha, shines in extended single-shot sequences that are meticulously choreographed, with Sri's cinematography adding an extra layer of brilliance.
