In an exclusive conversation with S Shyam Prasad, Vikky Varun discusses his directorial debut, in which he also stars.

Q: You've transitioned into directing after playing lead roles. What prompted this sudden shift in your career?

A: I originally entered the film industry with the aspiration of becoming a director. However, I ended up becoming a lead actor first. Now I have fulfilled my long-standing dream. I have worked under Yogaraj Bhat and Duniya Suri as an assistant director. I cannot forget that.

Q: What has the experience of directing a film taught you?

A: Directing has been an incredible learning journey for me. The role of a director has evolved significantly due to advancements in technology and changing times. Every day, there is something new to discover in the field of directing, and I believe this process of learning will continue in the future.

Q: The title of your film sounds Hindi. Can you shed some light on that?

A: The title, "Kaalapatthar," is not related to any specific film or individual. The story unfolds in various locations, including Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. I chose the title to reflect the essence of the original story, and it does not have any connection to a particular person or film.

Q: What sets this movie apart? What is its unique selling point (USP)?

A: The uniqueness of this movie lies in its fictional story and the distinctive settings and circumstances in which the narrative unfolds. Audiences today are exposed to movies from around the world. So they expect new experiences that tingle their imagination. This film responds to that desire.

Q: How has the response been to the recently released music album of the film?

A: To dispel any confusion about the film's title, we presented our film's music and color palette. The response has been truly incredible. This marks the first time in my career that I've witnessed such a positive reception, with numerous favorable comments and likes.

Q: What are your plans for the film's release?

A: We are currently planning to release the film by the end of October. There are a few issues to sort out before we announce the actual date. It is happening soon enough.
