Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) initiated an investigation into a suicide case involving allegations against two police personnel. A police inspector and constable, along with three others, face abetment to suicide charges.
The CCB, led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, has summoned the accused for questioning. Nagaraju V (47), a loan document verification officer, tragically took his own life at his BCM Layout residence in Talaghattapura.
He leaves behind his wife and a 14-year-old son. Following a complaint by Nagaraju's wife, Vinuta, Talaghattapura Police filed an FIR against five individuals, including two police officers, under IPC section 306 (Abetment to suicide).
The case revolves around allegations that Nagaraju was unlawfully detained and mistreated by the Vyalikaval police on September 19 in connection with a 'fake' case.
The deceased expressed fear about police summons on September 20 in a message to his wife and subsequently took his life, holding five individuals responsible in his WhatsApp message.
In his suicide note, Nagaraju asserted that he had been apprehended and 'tortured' by Vyalikaval police regarding a false case filed by an individual named Nataraj. He also claimed that he worked for a company owned by Sanaulla, who had defrauded many people and wrongly implicated him.
The note further detailed his alleged detention at Hennur Police Station on June 1st, where he claimed to have been physically assaulted and coerced into paying Rs 8 lakh to a police officer named Shivakumar.
Nagaraju contended that he was subjected to 'torture' by Vyalikaval police for financial gain. Consequently, the case was transferred to the CCB following the FIR.
