Bus passes for women workers
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: BMTC in collaboration with the Labour Department will be issuing free monthly bus passes for women workers at garment factories under the “Vanitha Sangathi” project from January. Women employees constitute nearly 80% of the 3 lakh workers employed at 850 garment factories across the city. But 40 per cent of the pass amount will have to be borne by owners of garment factories where the women are employed.
Those wanting to avail this scheme, should submit their request to respective garment factory owners. They will compile a list of women employees seeking passes and submit it to Karnataka Labour Board, which will be sent to BMTC after verification.
BMTC will then issue “Vanitha Sangathi” monthly bus passes according to the list (hard copy) received from Karnataka Labour Board, Bengaluru, after confirming the receipt of 40% of pass amount (Garments owner’s share) through RTGS/NEFT and after verifying the required documents from the garments owners.
