Kannada Sahitya Parishad President laments increasing number of liquor shops in Karnataka

Bengaluru: At a recent event in Bengaluru, Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Nadoja Dr Mahesh Joshi expressed his concern over the increasing number of liquor shops in Karnataka.

He stated that the number of liquor shops in the state is ten times more than the number of bookstores. Dr Joshi attributed this trend to the changing values of society.

He said that people are giving priority to addiction than the love of reading. This is leading to a decline in human values and a breakdown in social relationships.

Dr Joshi also spoke about the importance of reading from actual books. He said that reading from mobile devices is decreasing the habit of reading and reducing people's attention span.

He also said that reading stories from grandparents is a great way for children to learn about their culture and traditions. Dr Joshi added that Kannada is a wonderful language and that everyone should be proud of it.

He also praised Soundarya College for its commitment to research and for honouring its lecturers who have conducted research.
