Class 10 student jumps into check dam

Hassan: A Class 10 student allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a check dam at Chakenahalli in Holenarsipur taluk of the district. The deceased was identified as Purushothama, 16, son of Kantharaju and Nagaratna of Pillenahalli village.

It was learnt that Purushothama, who was studying 10th standard at Chakenahalli government school, jumped into the check dam while returning home after the school.

The jurisdictional police visited the spot and recovered the body of the student with the help of a diver from Kundapur. The exact reason for the student's suicide could not be ascertained.

However it was said that he was suffering from a learning disability. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Holenarasipur Town Police Station.
