SHAME OLD STORY-Heavy rain, flooding & waterlogging bring B’luru to standstill

Bengaluru: Several parts of Bengaluru experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday, accompanied by thunderstorms leading to waterlogging on several roads and traffic disruptions, bringing the city to a standstill.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, heavy water logging was reported at Nayandahalli at Mysuru Road, Haralur Junction at Hosur Road, Railway underpass at Sheshadripuram and Dhananjay Palace at Vijayanagar, Kalyan Nagar Bridge, Opposite Chickpet Metro Station and Hesaraghatta Cross at Peenya.

Around 8.30 pm, traffic police issued an advisory stating that the Electronic City flyover towards the city has been closed, due to water logging in Roopena Agrahara.

The Sivananda flyover in the city witnessed a huge traffic jam, causing inconvenience for motorists for few hours.

The waterlogging, which was reported at Manyata Tech Park towards Hebbal and on the Nagavara flyover, was cleared within an hour of being reported by the receptive traffic police teams.

The KR Puram Traffic Police also confirmed waterlogging on Kasturi Nagar Bridge towards Tin Factory.

A tree was uprooted pulling an electric pole along with it under the Madiwala Police jurisdiction on St.Johns Cross Road from St.John's Signal towards Tavarekere.

The Madiwala Traffic police diverted the traffic. The BBMP infor med News Trail that they received several complaints of water logging and uprooted trees.

Water logging in Vasanth Nagar and an uprooted tree in Bidarahalli were reported in the Central Zone while, the Yelahanka Zone reported waterlogging in Old Yelahanka Town, MS Palya and Thanisandra Main Road.

No uprooted trees or water logging was reported in the Mahadevpura, Dasarahalli, Bommanahalli, East and West Zones of the BBMP control rooms as of 8.45 pm. Motorists are advised to be cautious while driving and to take alternative routes if possible.
