'40% commission' probe officially set up

Bengaluru: The State government on Thursday officially constituted the inquiry commission to probe allegations of 40 per cent commission under retired Justice HN Nagamohan Das.
The allegation that different departments under the previous BJP State government charged a cumulative commission of 40 per cent was first made by the president of the Karnataka State Contractors Association (KSCA) D Kempanna.
After the Congress came to power, they set up an inquiry to probe the claims under a retired judge. They did the same with alleged irregularities that took place in the acquisition of medical supplies during the pandemic.
They also announced that the 40 per cent commission probe would cover all four years of BJP rule.
“The Government has appointed the Commission of Inquiry under the leadership of Honourable Justice HN Nagamohan Das. Firstly, this inquiry commission will investigate the works carried out during the period from 26.07.2019 to 31.03.2023,” an official notification said.
The probe would take into consideration tender process, package procedure, reestimation in departments that carry out large amounts of works like Public Works Department (PWD), Water Resources Department, Urban Development Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department and minor irrigation departments, release of due amount etc.
One can submit any proof of corruption in any of the departments at Nagmohan Das’ address, that is the Inquiry Commission, third Floor, Public Works Department Main Building, at KR Circle in person within the office hours (10.00 am to 5.30 pm) or by post or e-mail juscticenmdasinquirycommission@gmail.com by November 10 at the latest.
