Bengaluru: Teachers and Lecturers of Karnataka State Minorities Department Teachers Association (KSMDTA) belonging to various districts, staged a protest in the city's freedom park demanding the government to fulfill the various demands of the teachers.
The Association accused the regulatory department of allowing promotions to first division assistants (FDA), second division assistants (SDA), and wardens appointed in the year 2016, while senior teachers and lecturers have been waiting for promotion for the past several years.
Similarly, they also alleged that the department allowed the promotion of “B” group district officers to “A” group officers, without subjecting them to the Cadre and Recruitment Rules of 2011.
The educators also demanded promotions for physical training teachers, art and craft teachers, and computer science teachers claiming that these specific sectors of teachers are not being treated equally compared to their peers.
However, the association welfare secretary, Sudarshan told the News Trail that recommendations of the 2018 Pay Commission should be set aside and the department should increase salaries in an "equitable" manner and the teachers should also be allowed to be promoted through the executive order.
