'Informer' arrested for conning policemen

Bengaluru: A person was arrested for trying to con police officials by pretending to be an informer and taking money from them. The accused was identified by the police as Wasim, a resident of Banashankari in Bengaluru.

It was revealed that the accused had cheated over 10 policemen in the last four years by promising to provide them information about crimes such as chain snatching, human trafficking, drug abuse and other offences.

However he would call the cops and request them to lend him Rs 2000 or Rs 3000 citing emergency situations. As soon as he would get the money, he would switch off his mobile phone and go into hiding. Beng alur u Central Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) R Srinivas Gowda said that the accused was produced at the Cottonpet Police station.
