Bengaluru Kambala’: Winners of all six categories announced, Lucky Draw winners take home huge prizes

Bengaluru: After the city’s maiden ‘Kambala’ came to an end at around 3 am at the Palace Grounds on Monday, winners across six categories were announced by the organising committee.

A total of 159 pairs of ‘Kona’ buffaloes took part where 62 of them contested in the Negelu Kiriya (Junior ‘Plough) category.

As earlier reported by the News Trail, the winner of the ‘Kanehalege’ was the pair of Bollamballi Chaitra Parameshwara Bhat "B" with Ullur Kandavara Ganesh as the jockey, having its water splash as high as 6.5 metres.

The buffalo pair owned by Bengaluru’s SMS family bagged the gold in the ‘Adda Halege’ (Cross Plank) category, with Bhatkala Harish the jockey, and the pair of Bolara Trishal K Pujari with Savya Gangaiah Pujari as jockey finished second.

In the ‘Hagga Hiriya’ (Rope, Senior Category), The ‘C’ pair owned by Nandalike Shrikanth Bhat with jockey Bambranabailu Vandit Shetty emerged first, as the pair of Mala Ananda Nilaya Shekhara A Shetty finished second with Bhatkala Shankar Naik as jockey.

In the ‘Hagga Kiriya’ (Rope, Junior Category) the pair of buffaloes belonging to Suratkal Panchajanya Yogeesh Kariya Pujari finished first with jockey Masti Katte Swaroop followed by the Kona pair of Nitte Parappadi Suresh Kotyan "A" with Attur Kodange Sudhir Salian as jockey.

The Ne gilu Hiriya (Plough, Senior Category) saw Bangadi Parambelu Narayana Male Kudiya’s kona pairs win first, jockeyed by Sarapadi Dhananjaya Gowda.

Mala Ananda Nilaya Shekhara A Shetty, with Patte Guru Charan finished second.

Finally, out of 62 pairs in the ‘Ne gilu Kiriya’ (Plough, Junior category) Jai Tulunadu Puttur Botyadi Kishore Bhandari’s kona pair jockeyed by Penrgalu Kritik Gowda emerged victorious and Ermal Puchchottubidu Balachandra Shetty’s buffaloes with Vivek Pujari as jockey finished second.

‘Kambala’ lucky draw: 3 out of 4 winners are women; cars, bikes given away as prizes

The Kambala also featured a lucky draw prize for VIP and VVIP ticket holders. This involved a draw of ticket coupons dropped by pass holders after the event and 4 winners were announced.

Pooja MV was presented the Maruti ‘Brezza’ car, Khushi Pujari got the Royal Enfi eld motorbike, Amita a Honda ‘Shine’ motorbike and the last winner Naveen ML got an electric scooter.

The lucky draw was organised by Prakash Shetty of MRG Group, one of the ‘Namma Kambala’ organisers.
