BMRCL to auction 'lost and found' items left unclaimed by commuters

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has turned "lost and found" into a source of income, collecting over 7.4 lakh rupees in the past five years by auctioning off items left behind by the commuters.

According to the sources, over the past five years, BMRCL has auctioned off 6,354 items that commuters did not claim. These items are said to have brought the corporation approximately 7.4 lakh rupees.

The unclaimed items left behind by passengers include water cans, helmets, lunch boxes, bags, umbrellas, and other articles, the officials said.

For passengers' safety concerns, BMRCL hasn't auctioned off the electronic gadgets left behind by commuters.
