Bengaluru: A drunk person was picked up by the police and later released after a private school teacher accused him of groping her while deboarding a metro train at Majestic station in the city.
The accused was identified as Manoj, 26, a TV mechanic and a resident of Kamakshipalya in Bengaluru.
The victim, in her complaint to the Upparpet police station, alleged that the incident took place around 6:45 pm on December 25 when she was travelling from National College to Majestic.
She claimed she had noticed the accused had an injury on his head and he seemed to be drunk. However while she was deboarding the metro, she felt someone groping her from behind and turned to find the accused.
She immediately reported the matter to the security staff who detained the accused and handed him over to the Upparpet police.
The CCTV footage of the incident was scanned and following an interrogation, the police found that the accused was an alcoholic. He was, however, produced in the court and was later granted bail.
