Bengaluru: As the year comes to a close on Sunday, one can lookback India’s performances in key sporting events - be it the Asian Games in China, or the Cricket World Cup here, sport has excelled in all aspects, and fans, a year etched in their memory.

Rohan Bopanna's long standing Tennis Career had reached its late peak this year.

The Lanky man, originating from the hills of Kodagu, had shown his prowess in both the Asian Games and the US Open.

In the former , Bopanna, along with mixed pair Rutuja had delivered India their second gold medal in Tennis that year and the third pair to do so.

Vrinda Dinesh - Cricket

March 2023 saw the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, where Mumbai Indians ran riot to win it.

Amongst the crowd was 22-year-old Vrinda Dinesh, who enjoyed watching the likes of Alyssa Healy and Harmanpreet Kaur play.

Fast-forward to December, Vrinda after her 1.3 crore acquisition, now has the opportunity to play along with those stars.

That price tag, reportedly has not distracted her, as cricket remains her source of joy.

Rakshitha Raju - Athletics

Para-athlete Asiad Gold Medallist Rakshitha Raju has written history, winning it for the second time at China this year.

The 1500m athlete, who was a sprinter, had a difficult uprising. Losing her sight from birth, she had lost her parents, and grew up with a deaf Grandmother and an aunt.

Her years of success which started five years ago is commendable.

Mithun Manjunath - Badminton

Hailing from the state of Badminton legend Prakash Padukone, Mithun Manjunath has a year to remember.

“Starting this year off as a national champion helped me with my confidence,” Manjunath told News Trail.
