Bengaluru: The Goa Children's Court extended the police custody of Suchana Seth, a data scientist and business entrepreneur of a Bengaluru-based startup, by five more days.

Suchana Seth is accused of allegedly killing her four-year-old son on 7 January in a service apartment in Goa.

Seth was brought before the Goa Children's Court after her original six-day custody expired. Calangute Police requested that her custody be extended since the investigation is still ongoing.

Following a Children's Court ruling, Suchana Seth, who was initially remanded to police custody, will now be held until January 19.

Seth, 39, was caught on January 8 in Chitradurga, Karnataka, while riding in a cab with her son's body placed in a bag and carried to Goa. A Mapusa municipal court put her in police detention for six days.

According to a senior police official, the accused is not cooperating with investigations.

"We had asked for an extension of her custody as we wanted more time to interrogate her. We have to also conduct other formalities like taking her DNA sample," he told the reporters on Monday.

"She has been confirming all other parts, including that she carried the child's corpse in a bag. But she refuses to confess that she killed him. She repeatedly claims her husband is responsible for the child's death," the official said.

The recording of Seth's husband Venkat Raman's statement is complete, he added. Earlier, Goa police seized a note scribbled by Seth using an eyeliner in a luggage.

According to sources, she expressed anguish and remorse in the message and explained how the court and her estranged husband, Venkat Raman, were putting pressure on her to cede custody of her kid.
