Bengaluru: An autorickshaw driver is accused of abusing a woman passenger and assaulting her in Bellandur for cancelling a ride by the time he reached the location in the city.

The woman passenger shared her ordeal on social media later.

According to her complaint, the woman booked an autorickshaw from an app-based taxi service, Rapido, to go to Tubarahalli in Whitefield, but because the driver took a long time to reach the place, she cancelled the ride just when the auto reached the pick-up location.

According to sources, the incident took place around 8:30 am on Saturday. Upset over the passenger’s action, the driver allegedly started quarrelling with a woman and pulled her on the road.

The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera. The woman later approached the police along with her friends.

CCTV footage was retrieved by the police which showed that the auto-rickshaw reached the spot where the victim was standing with two bags. The auto driver pulled and assaulted her.

A passerby who was at the spot called others to rescue the woman from the accused.

The auto driver was angry that the woman had cancelled the booking just when he arrived and he left the place as a crowd gathered.

After receiving the complaint, the police are now on the lookout for the autorickshaw driver.
