Bengaluru: The Mahalakshmi Layout police arrested the husband and his friend for allegedly killing a woman and attempting to pass it off as suicide.

As the autopsy report called the bluff, the police arrested the two men.

News Trail on February 7, had reported an incident where a woman identified as Pushpa Latha was found dead at her house in Kanteshwara Nagar in Bengaluru.

It was learnt that she was a home-maker and wife of a garment seller, Shiva Shankar.

As the police investigated the spot, the woman was found hanging on a rope that was tied to a window inside the house. While the initial reports suggested it to be a suicide case, the police, following an autopsy report, found that the woman was strangled to death before she was hanged.

The police took the woman's husband, Shiva Shankar, into custody for questioning during which he confessed to the crime.

The police said that Shankar had offered money to his friend, Vinay, to get his wife murdered.

On Monday evening, Shiva Shankar went out of the house after which Vinay allegedly barged in and attacked the woman.

The police further said that the accused had turned off the CCTV cameras near the house to avoid getting caught.

Vinay allegedly strangled the woman and hanged her to make it look like a suicide case.

It was learnt that Vinay and Shankar were friends for the last five years. Following his arrest, the police detected Vinay's involvement in another murder case and are now probing both the cases.
