Bengaluru: A three-year-old child was rescued after a video went viral wherein the mother was accused of torturing and assaulting him.

The incident took place in Veerabhadra Nagar under Girinagar Police Station in Bengaluru.

Following the viral video, the child has been handed over to the State Council for Child Welfare which directed the accused couple to undergo counselling.

It also said that the baby would be returned after resolution of the case and it warned the parents to take good care of the child.

In the video, multiple injury marks are seen all over the child’s body and his fingers are swollen. It is alleged that the mother used to assault the child when asked for food.

She would lock him inside the house when she would go out for work in the morning and return in the evening. When some locals noticed her leaving her child alone at home, they took her to task and expressed outrage.

It is reported that the incident happened two weeks ago and came to light on February 19.

The woman allegedly has separated from her husband and a friend of her’s used to come to the house to feed the child in the afternoon.

The locals alleged that the child was asking for food from inside the window and there were multiple scars on his body. The child claimed that his uncle hit him with a cooker.

The mother of the child, Shareen, denied the allegations and said that she hit him only to teach him discipline.

She further claimed that she shifted to the rented place recently. The child grew up elsewhere and was not ready to stay with her, she alleged.
