Bengaluru: To enhance the urban landscape, Reap Benefit, an NGO headquartered in Bengaluru, cleaned a longstanding eyesore outside KLAY Jayanagar - Preschools and Daycare.
Despite repeated appeals to the BBMP by school officials to address the garbage accumulation issue plaguing the area adjacent to the school premises, there was no lasting solution.
The concerns voiced by both school authorities and parents were valid, given that children ranging from 6 months to 10 years old attend this institution, rendering the neglected site a significant health hazard.
Taking matters into their own hands, twelve volunteers from Reap Benefit convened to clear the waste from the area and the surroundings.
Their efforts resulted in removing over 200 kilograms of assorted waste, including household waste, disused furniture, and plastic debris.
In addition to the cleanup, the volunteers took it upon themselves to beautify the sidewalk with a fresh coat of paint, while collaborating with the school's security personnel to adorn the area with vibrant rangoli designs, lending a transformative touch to the oncedreary spot.
This initiative has bright tangible results, as littering in the vicinity has witnessed a significant decline, thereby enhancing the quality of life for students and pedestrians alike.
