Bengaluru: A 27-year-old foreign national woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her hotel room in the city on Wednesday night.

The police said that the incident came to light when the hotel staff opened the room using the master key after the victim did not open the door despite several attempts to contact her.

The deceased was identified by the Sheshadripuram Police as Zareena, an Uzbek citizen, who had arrived in Bengaluru on a tourist visa on March 5, and had been staying at a star hotel near BDA flyover here.

The hotel staff informed the police that the woman had not ordered any food on Wednesday. In the evening, a room service executive knocked on the door but there was no response from the woman.

The last time the staff had seen her was in the afternoon when Zarina had approached the reception to pay the room rent. However later, the staff found a 'Do not disturb' notice on her door.

"We thought she had gone out," the staff told the police.

"Around 10:30 pm, when the executive again failed to get any response from the customer, he alerted the senior staff. The manager opened the door using a master key and found the woman dead," the staff added.

Alerted, the police rushed to the spot and inspected the body. The forensic (FSL) team collected the samples from the spot and sent it for testing.

The police told News Trail that they found injury marks on her body including punches on her face which turned their suspicion that the woman had been murdered.
