Bengaluru: The Mahadevapura Zone and Krishnarajapuram Zone, which is home to a lot of Information Technology (IT) companies has been reported the worst hit due to the water shortage in Bengaluru.

In a meeting chaired on Wednesday by Chief Commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Tushar Girinath, officials were advised to address the issues of water shortage.

Out of the 110 villages annexed by the BBMP, 42 villages face critical water shortage, the BBMP has observed. 31 of them are in Mahadevapura, and 11 in K R Puram.

Installation of sintex tanks by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSS) in critical areas, in addition to temporary supply of drinking water to Water ATMs are few of the proposed solutions to avert water shortage in the area.

The officials were directed to affix stickers on registered tankers, subject to brandishing required documents. Bengaluru is facing its worst water crisis in decades.

Due to a failed monsoon and the depleting ground water, the city faces a deficit of 500 Million litres a day, it is reported.
