Water conservation efforts: BWSSB rolls out aerator installation drive

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) began installing water aerators in public offices and high-traffic areas on Thursday.
These aerators, which are fitted at the mouths of water taps, have the capability to regulate water flow by up to 60 percent. In the initial phase, approximately 4,000 aerators were installed across BWSSB offices, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) offices, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) offices, Deputy Commissioner (DC) offices, police stations, Jayadeva Hospital, central pharmacies, Lokayukta offices, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) offices, and Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) establishments.
The second phase of the initiative will focus on installing aerators in offices operated by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), the Income Tax Department, the Indian Space Research Org anisation (ISRO), BBMP schools, Indira Canteens, and other prominent locations.
Additionally, BWSSB Chairman Ram Prasath Manohar announced a 1 0 % reduction in water supply to bulk users in the city star ting April 14.
Bulk users, defined as those consuming between 2 0 - 4 0 lakh litres of water, will experience this supply cut to redirect water to areas facing shortages.
