LS Polls: 56 percent of postal votes complete, says BBMP

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Postal ballot voting for this year’s Lok Sabha elections in four zones of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commenced on Saturday.

According to the records by the BBMP, 4459 people aged above 85 and those identified as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) have successfully casted their votes, 56.74 percent of the total.

Officials reported 18 names to be dead, and 16 absentees. Two had refused to vote, they added.

57 percent ballot votes casted in three constituencies

As of Saturday, 3710 identified postal ballot voters had successfully casted their votes for three constituencies - Bangalore North, Central and South. Bangalore Central has the highest percent of postal voters (70.14).

Postal ballots will continue till Thursday, April 18. Officials, along with a videographer and a security guard will visit the homes of the voters twice to register and verify votes.

Four constituencies, namely Bangalore North, Central, South and Rural will go to poll in Phase II of the elections on April 26.
