Amateur gang steals cop's bike 'by mistake', lands in police net

Bengaluru: The city police have arrested a six member-gang and recovered three two-wheelers worth Rs 3.4 lakh along with six mobile phones from them.
The recovered vehicles include one which they had stolen from an assistant sub-inspector of police attached to the Kamakshipalya police station, the police said on Tuesday.
On March 28, three accused identified as Adi, Suhail Khan and Dhanush, had stolen a two-wheeler belonging to ASI Nagaraj following which the officer lodged a vehicle theft complaint at the Kamakshipalya Police Station.
According to the police, the trio were unaware that the two-wheeler belonged to a policeman.
The Kamakshipalya police had launched a probe to recover the bike. Meanwhile on March 31, the gang allegedly waylaid a truck which was on its way to Shivamogga, threatened the driver with a knife and robbed him of his mobile phone.
They also got him to reveal his mobile phone password and forced him to transfer money through UPI.
The truck driver had lodged a complaint with the Dabaspet police. Connecting the dots following a probe, the police nabbed the trio along with three more accused and recovered the stolen valuables.
