Hoax call at 112: Man on the run after call
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: A case was registered after a person made a hoax call to the emergency helpline number 112, alleging that he was stabbed by his wife and mother-in-law in Kodigehalli police limits on Thursday night.
He later absconded and is still on the run, the police said. While the cops went on a wild goose chase all night, the caller had switched off his mobile phone after making the call.
The police said that the man had identified himself as Rakesh when he called the emergency number.
After the information was passed on to the Kodigehalli police station, the police looked for Rakesh in all the hospitals coming under their jurisdiction.
However, they did not get any information about the caller or any medico-legal case (MLC) regarding stabbing.
Rakesh had given the address of his mother-inlaw’s house to the control room when he called them.
However when the police went to the house and inquired, they were stumped and could not get any such information. The police questioned both his mother-in-law and wife and it was confirmed that no one had murdered Rakesh.
The police suspect that Rakesh may have called 112 under the influence of alcohol and may be having some domestic issues. So far the police could not ascertain his whereabouts and are on his trail.
