Bengaluru: All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) declared the scrapping of the fouryear undergraduate degree course by the State government as a “victory of the students’ movement”.
The four-year degree had been a part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 formulated by the Union government.
AIDSO Kar nataka State Secretary Ajay Kamath said: “As reported in the media, the State government has decided to revoke the four year degree course in the state which was implemented as part of NEP 2020. After tremendous opposition from students, teachers and educationists of the state, the government has taken this decision! This is a victory for the people's movement.”
“As students await the official order, we appeal to the student community to remain united! In an undemocratic way, the previous BJP government implemented a four year degree without any consultation. Our fight will continue till a people’s education policy is implemented in Karnataka,” he added.
