Auto driver arrested for snatching valuables

Bengaluru: An autorickshaw driver has been arrested for stealing 100 gms of gold ornaments from a youth who had fled home after an argument with his parents in the city.
The arrested accused was identified as Siddique, a resident of MS Palya in Vidyaranyapura of Bengaluru. The police recovered the stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 6.5 lakh from him.
The victim, Kishan Reddy, is a college student pursuing studies at a reputed college in the city.
On April 2, he left home after he was reprimanded by his father and told not to go out with some of his friends.
The youth boarded an autorickshaw from Basavanagar and headed to the Majestic area, keeping all his valuables, including the gold ornaments, in a bag.
This was noticed by the autorickshaw driver. Meanwhile the parents of the youth filed a missing report at the police station on April 4.
The police launched a probe and tracked the youth in Odisha following which he was reunited with his parents. The student later told his parents that his bag containing gold ornaments was snatched by the autorickshaw driver.
A separate complaint was then filed in which the youth claimed that when they reached Ramesh Nagar, he told the driver to stop as he had to attend to nature’s call.
It was then that the driver snatched the bag with the valuables and fled. The youth managed to reach Majestic and travelled to Puri in Odisha. Acting on the information provided by the youth, the Bengaluru police arrested the auto driver.
