Plaint against Asianet-Suvarna anchor

Bengaluru, NT Bureau:  A complaint has been lodged with Bengaluru Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) against Asianet Suvarna News and its news reader Ajit Hanumakkanavar(in pic).

The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) accused him of spreading communal hatred. An objection had been raised against Hanumakkanavar’s coverage of a report by the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) titled “Share of Religious Minorities: A cross-country analysis (1950- 2015)” released on Tuesday.

Hanumakkanavar had used the Indian flag to denote Hindus while utilizing the Pakistan flag to represent Muslims.

APCR General Secretary Mohammed Niyaz submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner of Police in RT Nagar, alleging that the channel’s Thursday programme, which was also aired on YouTube, incited fear and hatred along religious lines.
