5 'Guinness' world records created on World Yoga Day
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a historic feat, five Guinness World Records were broken on the occasion of World Yoga Day on Friday at the Palace Grounds here.
An effort to create seven new records was attempted by performing and holding Yoga Asanas with the maximum number of people.
Hanumanasana, Kaundinayasana, Naukasana, Chakrasana, Natarajasana, Surya Namaskar and Ekpadasana were the chosen Asanas, and an estimated 3500 individuals gathered from morning at the ground in their attempt to break the record.
Finally, five records were created, while two are under review. Led by Himalayan Siddha Akshar, the enthusiastic crowd tried their best and will go into the record books for their efforts.
Prashanth, a working professional who took part, admitted that his fascination for the asanas has grown with so many others around.
“It was a long but refreshing day. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he added. During last year’s Yoga Day celebrations, a record for the largest yoga lesson was made in Gujarat, with 1.47 lakh students participating in a single sitting
