BBMP launches 'fix pothole' mobile application
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In an effort to streamline grievances on pot holes found on the roads of the city, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Saturday launched a mobile application titled “Fix Pothole.” in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar.
The City has a road network of 12,878 kilometres, out of which 1344.44km are arterial and sub-arterial roads, and around 11,000 kilometres belonging to wards.
The app, on the basis of GPS and Latitude and Longitude coordinates, will help citizens flag potholes with images sent to the server, and will be tagged to the relevant contractors. The user will need to log in with their mobile numbers, and attach a description of the image showing the pothole.
Earlier, a similar app was developed, but only for traffic police officials. A fortnight ago, Shivakumar told reporters that in 16202 identified potholes from April to July this year, 15686 of them were filled, leaving 516 of them yet to be filled.
However, a few were sceptical about the launch of the app, as they claim they’ve seen enough with mobile applications, with previous instances of them litching and overwhelmed with bugs.
