Stunt riders in legal soup after scooters tossed
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: On August 15, the Nelamangala traffic police tracked down the owners of two scooters involved in dangerous stunts on the Bengaluru-Tumakuru National Highway.
The incident occurred on the Adakamaranahalli flyover, where reckless riding by a youth performing wheelies caused a minor collision, inciting anger among other motorists.
The situation escalated as frustrated road users took matters into their own hands, surrounding the stunt riders, who fled the scene, abandoning their scooters. In a fit of rage, motorists threw the abandoned scooters off the flyover, sending them 20 feet onto the service road below.
The Nelamangala traffic police responded quickly, tracking the scooters' vehicle numbers. One vehicle owner, whose son was identified as one of the stunt performers, was contacted and asked to present the offenders for further questioning.
The authorities have filed cases against the offenders under Sections 184 (driving dangerously), 187 (accidents), and 189 (racing and trials of speed) of the Indian Motor Vehicles (IMV) Act.
The Madanayakanahalli police have also registered a suo motu case against the unknown individuals responsible for throwing the scooters off the flyover, and efforts to identify and apprehend these vigilantes are ongoing.
