Rains cause tree fall, waterlogging

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Rain in parts of Bengaluru on Thursday caused a tree to fall and waterlogging in other parts of the city. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) reported a tree collapse near Koramangala due to strong winds.

In addition to this, waterlogging was observed in several areas, causing traffic congestion. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a rainfall of 26.8 mm in Bengaluru as of 8:30 pm.

Key locations affected by waterlogging include the Lowry Memorial School area in KR Puram and the stretch from the locality leading up to to Kalyan Nagar.

The Balagere to Kundalahalli Junction area also witnessed some waterlogging. Other waterlogging-hit areas included Rayasandra Circle to Choodasandra, Command Hospital near Old Airport Road, Panathur Bridge Railway to Varthur Main Road, Bellandur Kodi near Salera Hospital, and Kadubeesanahalli towards Marathahalli.

Waterlogging was also reported in Kariyammana Agrahara, Kasturi Nagar, Veeranapalya, Salem Bridge, Anil Kumble Circle, SJP Road near Town Hall, and the bottom of the flyover leading to the new airport. Hebbal Circle and Yogeshwaranagara also experienced flooding, making commuting difficult for motorists.

Branch disrupts Metro services

A branch fell on the metro track near MG road, slowing a Purple Line train making its way to Cubbon Park. MG Road is an overhead Metro Station whereas Cubbon Park is underground.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said that the branch fell between the walkway at 4:51 pm. The branch was cleared by 5:03 pm and services resumed back to normal.
