GDC&RI unveils advanced digital dentistry wing, marking major modernisation effort

The Government Dental College & Research Institute (GDC&RI) is set for a major overhaul with the introduction of advanced equipment and facilities, as announced at the graduation ceremony on Thursday. Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil inaugurated the new digital dentistry wing, marking a milestone in the college's modernisation efforts.

Dr. Patil praised GDC&RI, one of India’s oldest dental institutions, established in 1958 and currently ranked fourth in overall parameters. “With over six decades in dental education and healthcare, the GDC is a pride of our state,” he said. “The college is on the brink of a major transformation, bringing in the latest technology and equipment to enhance its facilities.”During the ceremony, Dr. Patil stressed the importance of effective communication in patient care, advising graduates to treat every patient as a VIP and to address patient-centric issues with utmost professionalism.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the cutting-edge digital dentistry centre, supported by the Adani Foundation. This facility, the first of its kind in a government hospital, features advanced technologies including CAD/CAM systems, which enable precise and efficient production of dental prosthetics. The centre also boasts Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) for enhanced diagnostic accuracy in oral surgery and implantology, croscopic Endodontics for improved precision in root canal treatments.
