Pub functioning beyond limits? Cops slammed for ‘selective treatment’

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: The Bengaluru City Police (BCP) may come under the scanner for 'selective treatment' after allegations that a few bars on Church Street function beyond the 1.30 am deadline without facing any repercussions. Despite strict noise regulations enforced citywide for pubs and bars, a few of them are still seen functioning with loud music. One of them had allegedly hosted loud, high-decibel parties well past the legal hours, with disturbances continuing past 1.30 am, sources said. Residents have complained of long, sleepless nights because of the noise, and are frustrated because of the lack of enforcement.

A video complaint has been lodged with the Commissioner of Police, highlighting these issues and questioning why action has not been taken against the pub despite multiple grievances. The video was also shared with the Cubbon Park police station and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central).

Many allege that the pub is owned by a politically influential figure, prompting the supposed special treatment by the cops. Residents and concerned citizens have demanded a thorough investigation. Many have taken to social media, questioning how many more complaints will need to be filed before action is taken. The public is calling for regular enforcement of noise regulations across all establishments.
