Karnataka State Open University opens admissions

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Open University's Chancellor, Prof. Sharanappa V. Halase, announced the commencement of admissions for the 2024-25 academic year at a press conference held at the Press Club in Bengaluru. The university currently offers 65 courses, including 10 online programmes, with admissions starting on July 22. Prof. Halase highlighted that the university is committed to inclusivity, providing full fee waivers for third-gender and visually impaired students.

The curriculum includes UGC-approved Bachelor's and Master's degrees, such as B.A., B.Com., B.B.A., B.C.A., B.Ed., M.A., M.Com., and M.B.A., among others. Additionally, admissions for diploma and certificate programmes are now open. The age limit for applicants ranges from 18 to 80 years, and specific discounts are available for women with Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards, defence personnel, auto and cab drivers and their families, as well as employees of KSRTC and BMTC. A 10 per cent discount is also offered for Karamuvi admissions.

Prospective students can apply through the official website, www.ksoumysuru.ac.in, and can visit one of the six regional centres or over 50 examination centres across Karnataka for more information. Present at the press conference were Prof. M. Ramanathan Naidu, Dean and Director of the Bengaluru Regional Division and regional directors from various zones.
