Woman assaulted in violent home invasion by local goons

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: A 56-year-old woman, Jayalakshmi, was assaulted by a group of 40 to 45 individuals, presumed to be local rowdies, at her home near Malleshwaram's 18th Cross on Monday morning. The attackers forcibly entered her residence, removed her and her family, and stole cash and belongings. As per Jayalakshmi's FIR, the incident occurred between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. The group had been threatening her for the past month, demanding that she surrender her land for 10 lakh. After she refused their offers, they arrived with a JCB, destroyed her house, and threatened her with violence if she contacted the police.

In a statement to News Trail, Inspector Ramesh S. indicated that they are investigating the issue but are not authorized to comment to the media. When a News Trail reporter posted photos and a copy of the FIR on social media, DCP North Saidulu Adavath responded, assuring that they would look into the matter and instructed the Malleswaram police to address the issue. In her FIR, Jayalakshmi reported that for the past 45 days, rowdies Jaikishan (A1), Chinnababu (A2), Prathap (A3), Prabhu (A4), along with 40 others, entered her house, dragged her and her family out, tied her second son Ravi's hands behind his back, and beat her first son, knocking him down and assaulting his chest and arms. Meanwhile, 10 to 15 others entered her home and stole 1,50,000 rupees that her elder sister had given her, along with two strings of 80-gram coral beads, an 8-gram gold chain, and two small gold rings belonging to her grandson.

They also took various household items. Afterward, they used the JCB to destroy her house. Following the assault, they went to the hospital to file a complaint, and an MLC case was registered against the attackers. Jayalakshmi told News Trail, "I’ve been homeless for two days, without clothes or shelter. We’ve lost everything, and the police aren’t responding. No one has been arrested." During a visit, one of the accused was spotted nearby, she went on to add.
