A fitting recognition of Ramachandra's excellence

To mark Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations, the state government will present the Rajyotsava Prashasti to distinguished winners in different fields. Among them is renowned Professor T.V Ramachandra of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for his contributions in the field of science and technology. Prof. Ramachandra's contributions and research are in the fields of Ecological Sciences, Spatial Analytics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Environmental Modeling.

Throughout his illustrious career at IISc, Ramachandra has conducted pioneering research that has advanced knowledge in his areas of specialization. His work has had a significant impact on urban planning, landscape ecology, aquatic ecosystems, biodiversity and sustainable development. Prof TVR also features in the recent global ranking of the top 2% of scientists (developed by Stanford University) in the field of Environment. He has also been awarded the Karnataka State Parisara Award, 2017-18 (Environment Award, Government of Karnataka) among other big recognitions. In addition to his research, Ramachandra is also known for his dedicated teaching and mentorship of students at IISc.

He has been instrumental in training and nurturing the next generation of science and IT professionals in Karnataka. TVR has travelled widely across the country for field research and for delivering lectures (1500+) at schools, colleges and research institutes. The Karnataka Rajyotsava Award comes as a fitting recognition of Ramachandra's excellence in the field of science and technology, and his contributions to the state of Karnataka. The award underscores his status as a leading academic and researcher in India.
