Nimhans (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) has introduced a mobile app as part of its ‘Tele MANAS’ initiative, aiming to offer free mental health resources and consultations while reducing stigma. This app builds on the success of the Tele MANAS helpline, which has been providing 24/7 mental health support in 20 languages via the toll-free number 14416 since its launch in 2022, handling over 1.5 million calls.
Developed in partnership with the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B), the app is now available for download on the Google Play Store, offering a more accessible platform for users. It includes features such as direct phone consultations with Nimhans counsellors, along with resources on yoga, exercise, diet, sleep and stress management. The app also provides self-assessment tools, cognitive games and educational content to promote mental wellness.
