Suicide attempt on Richmond flyover, man saved by traffic cop

Ashok Nagar traffic station police rescued a man who tried to jump off the Richmond flyover after a quarrel with his wife. Traffic constable Lokesh, who was on duty on Wednesday evening, saw a woman screaming at the man from the flyover and immediately rushed to the spot and stopped Venkataraju, who was trying to jump from the flyover after throwing his mobile phone.

He later called the Hoysala staff asking them to calm him down. Venkataraju, a native of Kolar, was in his car with his wife when a fight broke out between husband and wife over personal reasons. Venkataraju then opened the car window and jumped out. A worried car driver stopped the car on Richmond flyover following which traffic cop Lokesh rushed to the spot and rescued him after hearing the screams.
