The Centre for Global Languages at Bangalore City University (BCU), in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation of Welfare Services (JICWELS), recently organised a seminar titled “Kaigo Nursing Care” at the Jnana Jyothi Auditorium.
Kaya, Deputy Consul General of Japan, and Mr. Takei from JICWELS addressed the gathering, alongside Dr. Jyothi Venkatesh, Chairperson of the Centre for Global Languages, BCU. The seminar focused on opportunities for Indian nurses and healthcare workers in Japan, a country with a high life expectancy of 84 years and a declining birth rate, resulting in a growing demand for young caregivers from abroad. The speakers outlined eligibility criteria for caregiver positions and emphasised the attractive pay packages available. Participants were shown videos and interviews featuring Indian nurses currently working in Japan, providing insights into their experiences. The event also highlighted the importance of qualifying exams in nursing and Japanese language proficiency.
BCU’s Centre for Global Languages offers a specialised course covering the Japanese language, work ethics, and culture, with guidance on recruitment and job opportunities in Japan. Scholarships are available for eligible candidates, making the program a comprehensive pathway for those seeking employment in Japan’s healthcare sector.
