The Karnataka School Education Department has ordered action against unauthorised coaching centres following complaints about students skipping regular classes to attend these sessions. The issue was highlighted by district child protection officials and concerned citizens. Under the Karnataka Tutorial Institutions Registration and Regulation Rules, 2001, all coaching centres must be registered. The department has tasked district officials with inspecting centres offering classes for grades 8 to 10. If found operating during school hours or without proper registration, legal action will be taken.
Officials have been directed to submit reports on their findings, ensuring compliance and protecting students' right to regular education. This move aims to curb absenteeism and promote discipline in academic pursuits. In similar news, recently, the Union Consumer Affairs Ministry issued guidelines with an aim of putting an end to misleading promotions such as claims of guaranteed success and assured admissions. These guidelines prohibit coaching institutes from making claims of assured admissions.
