Street vendor survey to conclude on Dec 20: BBMP

Four months since the Street Vendor Survey started, around 23,000 street vendors have been enumerated, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) revealed on Wednesday. BBMP Special Commissioner (Health and Welfare) Suralkar Vikas Kishore revealed the details saying that across eight zones, 23,407 vendors have been identified. The vendors will be given identity cards. A town sales committee will be constituted in each zone in accordance with the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihoods and Regulation of Street Trading) Act, 2014 and the Karnataka Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihoods, Regulation and Licensing of Street Trading) Scheme, 2020.

The welfare department is undertaking the enumeration, and those willing to be registered should produce their Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Bank Passbook, Family Ration Card, Family Member Information and Self Declaration Certificate. Schemes, both from the state and Centre can also be availed. The PM Swanidhi Scheme under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) helps vendors avail of loans at subsidized rates.
