Traffic accidents and violations in Bengaluru have decreased in 2024 compared to the last two years, according to the Bengaluru Traffic Police Department. This year (as of 18 December), 824 serious accidents were reported, resulting in 845 deaths. Additionally, 3,778 non-serious accidents caused 3,885 injuries. Notably, fatalities have reduced compared to 2023. The police stations with the highest accident counts were KR Puram (202), Yelahanka (198), Kempegowda International Airport (198), Whitefield (158), and Kengeri (152).

Traffic violation cases also showed a decline. While 1.04 crore cases were recorded in 2022 and 89.99 lakh in 2023, only 69.73 lakh violations were reported in 2024 (as of 31 October). The most common infractions included riding two-wheelers without helmets (27.41 lakh), pillion riders without helmets (18.23 lakh), parking violations (8.18 lakh), and signal jumping (4.95 lakh).

The drop in violations is attributed to AI-powered cameras installed at major city junctions and corridors. Over 1,500 cameras provide real-time feeds to the traffic control room, enhancing enforcement. Police have also begun visiting the homes of habitual offenders to collect fines.
