Investigation uncovers shocking details in gold 'scam' involving Shweta Gowda

Bengaluru: Recent developments in the alleged gold scam involving Shweta Gowda have led to suspicion about former Minister Varthur Prakash's alleged role in a political scheme aimed at undermining a rival. Authorities are investigating whether a 'honey trap' was orchestrated against BJP leader Chalapathi amid rising political tensions. The investigation is reportedly related to Prakash's pursuit of the Kolar ticket during the last assembly elections, where he faced off against Chalapathi.

Reports indicate that Prakash, having recently moved to the area, was determined to secure the ticket despite Chalapathi's opposition. While Prakash ultimately received the BJP ticket, he lost the election, leading to questions about possible attempts to sabotage Chalapati in future elections, said sources. Allegations suggest that Shweta Gowda had sought to target Chalapathi under the pretense of a business transaction and that Prakash provided her with information on Chalapati s financial status.

Shweta allegedly contacted Chalapati via Facebook for an investment proposal, saving his contact under the name "Mysore Pak," raising suspicions of a planned honey trap. Compounding the confusion are Prakash's reportedly contradictory statements during police questioning; he initially denied knowing Shweta but later claimed she misused his name in gold purchases, sources said.
