ASI and accomplice arrested for bribe in seized autorickshaw case

Bengaluru: In a significant anti-corruption action, the Lokayukta police arrested ASI Vijay Kumar of the Sanjaynagar Police Station and his accomplice Syed Rizwan for allegedly accepting a bribe to release an auto rickshaw that had been seized illegally. The incident came to light when Mohammed Sujath, a resident of KG Halli, filed a complaint with the Lokayukta authorities.

According to the complaint, ASI Vijay Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from Sujath in exchange for returning his auto rickshaw, which had been seized by the police. After the complaint was registered, the Lokayukta police launched an investigation and set up a sting operation. The officers successfully apprehended ASI Vijay Kumar and Syed Rizwan when they accepted a reduced bribe amount of Rs. 40,000 from Sujath. The Lokayukta police have confirmed that both individuals are being interrogated to uncover the full details of the illegal seizure and bribery operation.
