BTP files 1k cases in drive against noise pollution

The drive is part of ongoing efforts by the traffic police to ensure smoother quieter traffic flow in the city.

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Traffic Police conducted a special drive targeting traffic violations related to defective silencers and shrill horns on Sunday. This initiative aimed to reduce unnecessary noise pollution on city roads, which often annoys other road users. During the operation, a total of 52 cases were registered for the use of shrill horns, leading to fines amounting to Rs 26,500. Additionally, 22 cases were booked for defective silencers, resulting in a fine of Rs 11,500.

The drive is part of ongoing efforts by the traffic police to ensure smoother and quieter traffic flow across the city, with special operations like these expected to continue in the future. From January 13 to 19, the BTP also carried out another special drive against drunk driving and speeding. This drive was conducted citywide, involving traffic officers from all 50 traffic police stations. A total of 61,660 vehicles were checked during the operation. The driver registered 693 cases of drunken driving and 292 cases of speeding. The fines collected for these violations amounted to RS 2,96,000.

The primary goal of this drive was to curb the dangers posed by drunk driving and speeding, which have long been significant threats to road safety in Bengaluru. This special drive will continue in the future, ensuring that traffic laws are strictly enforced for the safety and well-being of all road users in the city.
