Bengaluru: After a weeklong home quarantine, Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai tested negative in the RT-PCR test held at a private hospital in the city on Monday.

According to sources, the CM went to the hospital for various checks including blood, urine, sugar tests that took over one hour. Subsequently, the swab sample of Bommai was collected for the RT-PCR test that came negative after three hours.

As a precaution, the CM has been advised to stay away from public functions or big crowds for some more days. Bommai had tested positive after he had attended a slew of programs not only in Bengaluru but also in other districts including Mandya where he contracted the virus. Since then he had quarantined himself at home and held all the meetings virtually including that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It may be mentioned here that almost six ministers in the Bommai Cabinet had tested positive.
