Boiled eggs, beedis, ganja— it’s biz as usual at the prison!

Bengaluru: Money can make the heads of jailors turn the other way so that everything from boiled eggs to beedis can make their way into the central prisons at Parappana Agrahara!

This was public knowledge for quite some time and the harsh truth was reiterated after a video on alleged illegal activities inside the prisons went viral forcing Home Minister Araga Jnanendra to seek a detailed report from prison officials.

The sting op is said to be the doing of a history-sheeter who was out of the prison on bail. In the video, jail inmates can be seen discussing the names of two jail staffers. And the most interesting part are the prices of goodies which can always be made available to prisoners. It is said that a cigarette sells for an exorbitant Rs 40 and a boiled egg is available for Rs 25. The jail canteen which is supposed to sell basics like washing and bath soaps, toothbrushes and paste, is said to have switched to selling ganja, cigarettes, beedi, eggs which are in high demand among the prisoners! If the video proves to be genuine, jail staff and prisoners might face serious action, said sources.
