Bengaluru: Facing tough challenges from both within the ruling BJP and from an Opposition, energised by recent poll victories, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai sought public support to make the state even-more developmentoriented as he completed six months in office on his 62nd birthday on Friday.
Ever since he assumed office in July last year after an ageing B.S. Yediyurappa was virtually forced to make an exit, Bommai, the home minister in the previous government has faced a flurry of demands from his party MLAs for ministerial posts. Some have posed questions over his ability to take the party to victory in the 2023 Assembly elections while stressing the need for a more dynamic leader to take on the Congress led by aggressive leaders like Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar.
Bommai however exuded energy saying his government had faced challenges such as the floods and drought and the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 in the past six months and asserted that his team of ministers is brimming with confidence. “All our decisions and steps will be dedicated to the welfare of the people which will be marked with self-confidence, great strength, a clear goal and speed. The foundation of our future steps is our propeople measures in the past six months,” Bommai said at a simple function at the Vidhana Soudha to celebrate his six months in office, adding that his government is ‘Sarvavyapi, Sarvasparshi’ (ubiquitous and touching every life).
Comparing administration with the game of football, the CM said, ‘’.....“I have the best team which knows dribbling, defence and strike. Our team is an expert in the game.”
