MLAs fume but Simha launches gas pipeline

Mysuru: Amid opposition from his party MLAs, Mysuru- Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has decided to go ahead with the Central government’s project to supply PNG (Petroleum and Natural Gas) to households through pipelines in Mysuru.

The first phase of the project worth Rs 35 Crores to lay a steel pipeline measuring 26 km on Mysuru ring road from Columbia Asia junction to Hebbal, has taken off with Mr Simha inspecting work on the project. Speaking to News Trail, Mr Simha said that the first phase of the project to lay the gas pipeline on the ring road is already approved. “My intention is to get gas connections for at least households in some areas of Mysuru, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he comes to open the Mysuru-Bengaluru expressway in December 2022,” he said.

He added, “I will be getting permission from National Highway authorities in ten days, to lay the 103km gas pipeline from Bidadi to Columbia Asia junction. Two 56kl PNG tanks have already been built at Hebbal in Mysuru. The formal approval from Mysuru city corporation to lay a 539km pipeline in Mysuru city, is pending, which is expected to happen soon.’’
